caps i seriously recomend looking into dirt. I've failed multiple times with a planted tank till i tried dirt. most the info i have gotten is off youtube. look into dustinsfishtanks on there. he is a bit excited in his videos but he has ALOT of good information.
I've been looking more at eco-complete substrate or some similar. It's just going to be a 20L so not that expensive to do, plus I love the cories / kuhli loaches so that way they won't stir up dirt and such. Planning to do mid light / no CO2 so not too complicated. It's a ways off yet so I've got more time to look into everything.
I've got cories and kuhli loaches as well. u use an inch of gravel over top the dirt to hold the dirt in place. just keep looking into the options and choose what u think would be best for u.
exhumed- How's your 55 coming along? Any neon losses?
FWIW, out of the 15 I originally purchased from Petco, I still have the 10. Once I got that wicked case of Ich eradicated, all was well. That 5 died within a few days of purchase back in Feb.
I have had no losses that i can tell. i usually get up to about 23-25 before i get lost and not sure if i'm counting the same ones again lol and everything is going strong. my apisto are looking like they are wanting to spawn. females turned yellow and the male been dancing for them. and i started dosing iron in the tank and the plants are no longer yellowing. they are becomeing alot greener between the veins.
