Hello everyone.

Ok I finally got my saltwater supplies. Yes I did.

This is a picture of the supplies I got. not opened yet.

Here are all the supplies out of the Box. Everything is new and shiny.

Now This is the 20 Gallon tank that I am going to convert in to a reef tank. At present I have a few fish in there and by the end of the week I will give them out to a friend. I will only be using the heater and the bio wheel filter without the wheel for some extra water flow. As you might have already noticed that the trim is brown which I do not like. So as soon as my community fish go. I will clean the tank and remove the trims and will spray paint them. As for lighting I am going to order 24" power compact lights from the Doctors. This is just a temp thing on top.

As soon as I get the tank cleaned, painted, up and running. I will add about 20 Lbs of live rock.

Well I will keep you guys updated with pictures definetly. If you guys have any suggestions please feel free.

Well I was thinking about getting 2 clown fish and the clean up crew. I think thats about it for a newbie reef tank. once I get everything up and running and ready then I will add some soft corals but that will be at a much later date. Hope fully everything goes as planned.

also one more question, why did you get 2 hydrometers? espically one being a swing arm...that just makes no sense to me.

cheers

Well I got 2 hydrometers just as back up. To make sure if the readings are correct or not. Some one told me that the floating one is more accurate then the swing arm one.

As for the sand. I am not going to wash the sand. I am just going to rinse it a few times to remove the real tiny particals that can messup my hob filter. EDIT: Well come to think of it. It wont actually messup the filter. rinsing will actually reduce cloudiness. Hopefully!!

As for the statue! yes it is smeagal. I really like him. my precioooouuuussss..

Update!

Ok today I donated my community fish. I feel kinda bad. Dont know why. I was so pumped up about the reef but after giving away my fish I am a little sad. Well anyways today as soon as i get off work I will remove everything in the tank and give it a good cleaning and will try to rip out the trims so I can paint them black. Today will do the cleaning only cuz wont have time and enough day light to spray paint it. I will post pics tonight as soon as i get started on the cleaning and painting. Well Not much of an update oh and on sunday I will be getting 22 lbs of live rock to start the process. Cant wait!!!

I got that same sand and didn't rinse it. I never rinse. I dumped mine in with the water already in the tank and my tank was crystal clear in 24 hours. :D

Can't wait to see the pics when you get it set up

Did you have the powerheads or filter running after you added the sand? I don't know. I don't want to messup anything. I think I will just rinse it once before adding? What do you think?

I don't remember if I had my powerheads going...I think so because I mixed up the salt water first in the tank, situated my live rock, then dumped in the sand. I had a HOB going - popped a sponge in it to help filter for the night then took it out the next day.
