FWIW, a 40gB would probably be perfect for you! They are perfect tanks for people who like lots of community fish and such cuz of their foot prints and the fact they don't have a *TON* of height...

Aren't you babysitting to earn money towards a new aquarium your Mom was going to help you buy the end of the summer? Also you once said you had a job all lined up once you turned 16. You didn't say what it was at the time, but if it was in your LFS, that would be like hiring an alcoholic as a bartender in a tavern, lol! Mowing lawns or helping a local farmer would be safer.

What kind of license do you have to get and is it difficult? Does that mean you aren't babysitting and you could pursue something else? Surely there are small jobs around - newpapers, kid care, yardwork, making hay, harvesting, etc that you can do without a license. Seems to me it was kind of important to be able to show what you have done to get scholarships and to get into college.

For constipation you should always feed your fish the insides of peas. They go crazy for it and it acts like a laxative. I feed them to my fish once and they were all pooping at once. It's was disgustingly funny, lol. And as for other people saying that you don't need bottom dwellers, people get them because they like to see pretty fish everywhere they look. I think good bottom dwellers are shrimp, because unlike crabs and lobsters, they don't attack your fish. Blue Crayfish are EVIL!!!! I like Amano Shrimp because they are extremely good scanvengers and they eat the algae in your tank, so they do 2 jobs in one!!

Also, Thyra I am probably one of the youngest on here, lol. I'm only 15, but my birthday is coming up in........a little over 3 months. Here I've been keeping fish for 6 months now and I'm already far into the hobby. I do have a problem with buying fish, jkust bought 2 female Guppies yesterday, but I only buy fish if they can co-exist in my tank with my other fish. My Betta is so nice that's she's not causing any problems with my Guppies. Yay!!

Yes, i have several ideas. Id REALLY love to get some puffers but i was just on Aqadvisor and they said i would be able to keep some African Cichlids in there, is that correct or are they mistaken?

If they are, then im hoping to do some sort of puffer community, perhaps just Dwarfs or maybe something else.

I love my 40 breeder. Its just big enough without being too big for me right now. Of course, I dream about having a bigger tank every day... but who doesn't? I haven't kept them so I might be wrong, but I think you could do a decent number of Africans in a 40. What lake are you thinking?

Malawi most likely, ive ALWAYS wanted to be able to keep some Malawi's :D i LOVE them. My favorite ever (which i cant keep in my 40 gallon) is the Electric Blue Hap. My second fav is the African Bumblee bee. I really hope i get the 40 gallon :)

Id think i could get at least 8-12 Malawi's in there right?

BTW You said your 20g had cracked glass - you never said it broke. Why can't the hamster be in that tank? Or for that matter one of the cheap ones you can get at Good Will or Salvation Army?
