Lotus....

Just dropped by one of my local shops and guess what I found...a tank full of Batik Loaches. I've reserved a couple and will go pick them up tomorrow. They're gorgeous! I'll post pictures as soon as I can.

Picked up a couple of the Batik Loaches today. They're gorgeous but my Schistura mahnerti have taken a definite dislike to them and the Nemacheilus triangularis (Batiks) are not backing down. Hopefully the territorial struggles will cease soon.

Turbine & Fruitbat,

Plano Pets has a a very large assortment. I was in there last week and they had a multitude, including a botia that they claim gets no bigger than 1.5". I can't remember the name. All of this makes me want to fire-up the 55G which is sitting in my garage. If only money and space were no object...*pouting*.

Bruckm...

Thanks for the heads up on Plano Pets. Went out there today to look around. The small Botia species you saw were Botia sidthimunki, the Dwarf Loach. Very hard to get in recent years and should probably be on the endangered list if they're not already. Unfortunately they only had one very tiny one left and it had a spinal deformity.

However....they did have a VERY unusual loach that I picked up a couple of....the 'Broad-Band Sand Loach', Schistura sp.aff. nicholsi. It is the first time I've ever seen these for sale in the D/FW area and I simply couldn't resist!

Pictures in the near future! Thanks again!

Wow, that's cool. Yeah, it's a nice little hole in the wall pet place. Their cichlid wall is pretty impressive. I've got to remember to play the lottery or get adopted by one of the Perots! Their plant selection is pretty disappointing. I've been looking for hornwort in this area and just can't find it. (I know, Turbine, the Fish Gallery has it. Too far away)

They had a tank full (Botia sidthimunki) when I was there a couple of weeks ago. During nap time on weekends I love to zip down and just gawk.

Ohhhhhh... those are cool :D They'd look great with clowns... or maybe with yoyos and kubotais.

It always amazes me how fast loaches get pale when they're having a little argument, and then go back to normal in about 10 seconds (like it had on Loach420's link).
