the swimming postures they show during (i guess you could call it "sparring" hehe) are intresting too. the two loaches that are sparring are the only ones swimming around normaly, all the others swim at an angle( kinda like the loach in my avatar) i guess to stay out of the way hehe.

EDIT: hey thats another nice loach there Fruitbat!

In his paper describing Botia kubotai (Jan. 2004), Dr. Maurice Kottelat used the following reasoning:

Type species. Cobitis macracanthus Bleeker, 1852.
Diagnosis. Distinguished from all other genera of Botiinae by its unique colour pattern: three black bars (one through eye, two on body) on a bright orange-red background. Distinguished from other genera within the subfamily Botiinae by the following combination of characters: Mental lobe developed in a barbel. Fronto-parietal fontanelle large, elliptical. Anterior chamber of gas bladder partly covered by bony capsule; posterior chamber large. Top of supraethmoid very broad. Optic formen rather small. Suborbital spine not strongly arched, bifid. Head naked (based on Taki, 1972:76).
Etymology. From the Greek khroma (colour) and Botia, allusion to the bright colouration.

Included species:
Chromobotia macracanthus (Bleeker, 1852)
I guess he found enough distinguishing characters to separate the Clown Loach into its own, unique genus.

Awwwww... thanks Fruitbat :D

I just wish I had more room for loaches, but probably won't until something dies or we sell a bunch. I just don't have time for more tanks these days :( Maybe when we get the 120g there will be room for a few more ;)

lol loach ;) I saw some cute cartoon loaches at loaches.com the other day on the almanac section. By the way, I love your new tagline :D
