Lol...yes, I'm becoming addicted. :D
IF I can convince the wife (who says 'no more tanks') to allow me to replace some of the existing smaller ones with one larger one, I could probably work something out...

I won't get into details now, but let's just say that I'll be working on it. ;)

As for the convicts...
The adults will be going bye bye as soon as I get wheels again. Babies will be left to fend for themselves and subsequently moved to allow room for the impending baby blue crays. I'll sell them or give them away once they're big enough.

So basically, the convict project will soon be drawing to a close.
They're not fish that I would want to keep as permanent tank residents, so it will soon be time to replace them with something else.

Lol...
Well, I wasn't really aiming at challenging myself by getting convicts---just thought it might be an interesting setup. Now I can say "been there, done that" when it comes to the cons.

Doesn't mean I'll say "been there, done that" with everything so quickly---the cons just aren't something I wanna keep long-term.

Fish selection depends on whether I get a 30 gallon tank, a 55 gallon tank, or neither. The 'boss' says 'no more tanks,' but I might be able to get her to agree on getting rid of some of the smaller ones if it means I can get a bigger one...

Oh...and sorry Fuzz, no rams for me.
I definitely want something that's gonna be less common.

hmm then do apistos...hard to find around here.

and the trick is, getting a fish that the "boss" wants. thats the only reason i have my 12g tank. i got my dads royal gramma. :)
or you bribe her with something really really nice
and even if GBRs are common, thier harder to breed than what youve been through :)

From what I've heard, brichardi might not be much of a challenge to breed - though I do think they're awesome fish and hope to keep them someday myself.

I thought the firemouth idea was interesting -- but I'm more interested in what BV is cooking up inside that brain of his...

Need 'clearance from the tower'!

Thanks for the comments.

How about a hint of whats coming? ;) hehehe
All boils down getting 'clearance from the tower.'
The degree of 'clearance' that I get will dictate the fish I choose...

Here's my ideal scenario, given our current living situation (i.e. lack of space):
Swapping out the 38 gal. (in pic) with a 55 gal. The extra 12" in length on the bigger tank could easily be accomodated along this wall.

Now here's the tricky part---moving the 38 gal. to this wall (in pic below) where the 12 gal. and 10 gal. are currently located. Based on the length of the wall alone (51"), you might say the 38 gal. tank (36" length) could easily fit there...
HOWEVER, notice in the pic that there is a bedroom to the right. Entrance to our apartment is on the left. The current stand (in pic) juts out 13.5" from the wall and already somewhat (according to the 'boss') "obstructs" the entrance into the bedroom. My 38 gal. would need to jut out 15.5".

Jutting out an extra 2" from the wall, and taking up an extra 14" of wall space will result in the entrance to the spare bedroom (which the 'boss' uses as an office) being more cramped-up than it already is. Plus, it would make the entryway into the apartment a little more crowded.

This makes it tough for me to lobby for moving things around as I would like to in order to make room for a 55 gallon tank. :(
