Ok so 2 of My OrangeHeads are staying together in one little space in the tank and chase in everyone away from their spot. The two fish are of my Dominant Male and the one the I was unsure of being a sub male or a female. The black bar type marking on my male has gotten bolder. The two fish are moving sand like crazy. They dug out underneath a rock and formed a huge pile of sand. This has been going on now for 2 days. Is this breeding behavior?? I can find too much info on them. They are about 3 inches in size (max being 8 but they grow very slow)

Yup, sounds like love is in the air :D If they are still very young, and it sounds like they are, don't expect them to be great on their first try. It will most likely take several spawns before they get the concept down.

I don't know about SA mouthbrooder, but in most african's the females mouth will be very swollen because of the eggs, and you may even get to see the eggs though the bottom of the mouth. She will look funny when she is holding, once you see it you'll never forget what it looks like ;)

I had a decent pic of an african cyprichromis holding eggs somewhere. I'll try to find it to show you a good example of what to look for.

Congrats!

EDIT: Ok, the first one the female is on the bottom.
