I don't know why there's people that doesn't understand general stores like wall mart, how people expect that wall mart have an specialist of fishes if they don't have an specialist in anything at all in any area......

i don't go to wall mart if i want a special or a quality TV or stereo...

that's why i don't go to wall mart to find a quality or special fish.... you should go to a pet store.....  don't bother people that doesn't want to be an expert....

Yes..but ..the end product is always the same with a TV. If the sales guy knows all about a TV, or know squat...you still are getting the off brand TV, which works fine..just doesnt have all the cool features.

If they had a person that even had a little know-how, your fish would be just as good as any fish at any LFS, bought a the store. If I goto my walmart, and take over the fish section...I think the walmart would be better, so the fish might be healthier, ect..

If i go work in the audio department, you are still getting the same TV.

You dont need to be an expert , just care, and have a little training to know your job.

You cannot compare live animals with hardware ie TVs, stereos! Animals require in store maintanence where as a stereo, what do you have to do besides wipe dust!?! and how much training do you need to wipe dust as opposed to keeping fish healthy! Big Difference!!!!! I do agree that you dont go to Walmart to buy a quality brand name TV/stereo although sometimes you can get some good stuff there.

I think that I must say walmart isn't a bad store. They have everything at your finger tips. They're not really that bad. It's just the fish section that we need to change! That is the worst department there IMO. I have to go with my mom and I always go to the fish department. Mine has whisper filters and good tanks and stuff they just don't have knowledgably staff or good conditions for they're fish. I have a tank from there and it's held up longer than my other one did from the lfs and was half the price. I will stand around ,s I said, when my mom goes there and will listen to the salespeople and what they say and what the people are saying and I will say something like, "excuse me but that's not right" or something and explain to the customers what's wrong with whatever they're talking about. Once a guy triend to tell these people that 2 kissing gouramies could go in a 10 gallon tank with no filter! What an idiot. I butted in and told them how wrong that was and they guy got really mad and cussed my out and left and I havn't seen him in that department again. Our walmart has an actual fish store right down by it. It's located in a shopping center and the store is a couple of spaces down. I also hang out there while moms' in walmart. I don't have to correct them there though. ;D

nodnod. yea.. they do have cheap thermometer over there ($1 less then n e where!)
i agree wiz cowboy, the only problem they have is the staff... low price, bad manners... how dare they cuss in front of the  customers?!?!!? in japan, if u cuss in front of the customers, the department store will make the bow and say sorry like crazy... becoz customers are people who feed their whole family!  >:(

Yes staff is the problem here. But as we have said there is nothing we can really do. Sadly enough they will not stop. Oh well. If we can just keep people from buying there it will be okay. ;D

Cool about Japan! ;D I would NEVER cuss in front of one of my customers. That's just rude. >:(

i think it is okay for them to sell tanks, filters, whatever, just not live fish or live animals altogether. they have no business doing that if they will not hire someone specifically for that section who will be able to keep the animals healthy. i mean, come on, they are animals, not toys or decorations.

Exactly what I'm saying. I had a freind who worked there and he knew a lot about aquariums. He would tell people how it was when he was in that department and he was in charge of that department for a while and he eventually got to be the one who ordered the fish but they fired him because he would tell people the truth about certain fish and some of the products they sold so certainly if he was not making them the full profit they wanted they fired him. Very unfair, but that's the way it works somtimes. :( ;D

That's so stupid...they don't want someone who have experience to take care of fish, and instead they want someone who doesn't know anything about fish to do that so that they could make profit from people!    >:(

Yes this jsut goes to show you that walmart doesn't care about the fish they keep or their employees. So those stupid commercials that show about the walmart employees having the best place to work...... well it's crap. ;D

I don't understand how we all sit here and complain but yet we are still supporting the Walmarts.  If we go there and by their cheaper products we're letting them win.  We're giving them the money to go out and by more and more fish.  So STOP supporting them if you don't believe what they're doing is right!  I have personally never bought fish from there because the cichlids they have all look crossbred and deformed.  But I was tempted to save a cute little red top zebra who looked really healthy, but decided against it! ;)  So if we want them to know that we think what they are doing is wrong, don't support their fish section.

i could go a step further and say
dont support the store at all
its convenient and has everything it seems like
but
they way they treat their employees and their fish  is unacceptable
check out

www.1worldcommunication.org/Walmart.htm

for some facts

what can you buy at walmart that you cant buy at another chain or even better a locally owned store?
pay the extra 5 bucks for the cd player if it means that a disgusting company like that wont get their profit from you :-X

Well it's easy for you guys to say not to support wal-mart or the fish section but what if that's all you have? Well actually I don't buy any of their fish or products. My parents have for me but I didn't tell them too. Well actually there is like no way that I could all toghether boycot wal-mart. I live in a small community and that's almost all we have for certain things like cleaning supplies and stuff like that. You get the picture. Well just thought I would say that. ;D

the truth is usually shocking
cd
i sympathize with your situation
but i still dont like wal-mart

even if they are the single most convenient store on the face of the planet
where else can you order a 8 big macs while buying a 24pack of diet sam club soda and a 48 roll package of toilet tissue?
