I would go with an emerald crab, but try to get a smaller one so you can see as it grows over time.

you dont need to over do it on snails. 4-5 would be fine. some small hermits (maybe 3-4 again, just make sure to have extra shells), and a emerald crab as I mentioned before would be great. I had the same list (just with some bumblee bee snails and a turbo added in) and just some more of the snails and hermits. Just dont add a turbo to a 12

i think it looks awsome so far! there is no such thing as an algae free tank, even in nature algae grows, i think it makes it look more natural.

i looked up some emeralds and on reef central some people say they are fish killers, is this true, the one i put in my mantis tank didnt move to fast...

The really big ones can get small fish when they are sleeping.

Okay. Well, at the moment, I've got:
2 nassarius snails
3 astraea snails
3 blue legged hermits

So only add an emerald crab and maybe another snail and one more hermit? The snails were kinda expensive. It was $19.40 for the 5 snails.

damn 19.40 my lfs charges out the a** for everything and I cant quite remember what my snails cost me but I dont think it was close to that. Another snail and hermit would be a fine. As for the emerald you dont have to its only if you want to. I liked mine and it was cool watching him eat, I think you would like him as an addition.

Yeah.. so anyway, what should I get after my crab? Should I try some corals before fish, or fish before corals? I was thinking somethin' easy sounding like zoos or shrooms. Any thoughts?

Well, I bought an emerald crab today. Acclimated him for ~30 mins. He was $10.74. Not too bad, but I think the drive there cost about $4.00 Lol. He's pretty awesome. I think I'll name him "Kingler" after the Pokemon xD I'll upload pics when I get home.

in a small tank i think you will see him a fair amount...i have a fairly good sized emerald crab in my 55 and i see it maybe once a week

im guessing they hide for a while, i have only seen the claws comeing out of crevises and eating only a little.
