Well, I should be going to get my goby and shrimp soon. Should I try to pick ones from the same store, and more specificially, that seem to be hiding out together? What if I bought the goby and shrimp from separate places? Which one would you all do?

Well, I've left the lights off for a few days, and it seems to have quelled the algae problem a little bit. The algae on my snails hasn't gone away, but now I've noticed that there's a feather duster attached to one of the snail's shell! It's got the little tube and the radiole, and if you get near the glass, or get near the snail's shell with the forceps, it darts back into the tube.

If you do make sure you drip aclimate it, but be ready for it to bite it no matter what. Stars need extremely stable conditions and a good food supply. The only Star I've ever had any luck with is the Common Star (not reef compatible). Having said that, as with everything in this hobby I'm sure someone else will pop in with stars are the easiest thing to keep =^p. So you need to decide if thats a chance you wanna take.

Good Luck....Joshua

P.S. I used to live in Tucson Az.

Well, I got my goby! He was $24.00 at About The Reef. Also got another hermit, of which I'm not sure where he is right now, but he's there somewhere.

Here's a quick shot of him.

I've decided to name him Oscar

Well, now Oscar has disappeared. I tore my tank apart looking for him. I looked in the rocks, under the rocks, took the rocks out, looked in the sand, looked in the back of the cube, looked everywhere, but I still can't find him. I think he might have jumped out or something. I looked around my bed, looked around back of my dresser, behind the tank and all around the stand, and he's still nowhere in sight. As bad as it sounds, I think one of my dogs might have made a quick snack of him when he was supposedly laying on the carpet :( I'm not sure what to do now. Should I even bother getting another fish, or should I wait a week and see if he shows up?

give it a couple days...but if you tore apart the whole tank chances are slim, although I suppose he could have been inside one of the rocks...get a cover for your tank to prevent further suicides.

He isn't anywhere in the back chambers 'cause I looked with a flashlight and searched by touch for him. I even felt in the pump, but to no avail.

So should I get some eggcrate to put over the hood opening in the hood?

Well, I got another yellow watchman, and he's been doing good for the past few days, so I went out and got a randall pistol shrimp. Now it looks like my shrimp is nearly dead because he's just laying on his side, but he still swims around. He can't seem to stay upright. My goby kinda pecks at him, and then leaves him alone. I hope I didn't just waste $17.... =(

Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I acclimated him for about 30 mins

Hmm.. maybe that's what happened, but he was doing the same exact thing before I even opened his bag to START acclimating him. He was fine in the store.. maybe the temperature inside my car got to him?
