what is your nitrate reading? have you checked your mix water for nitrates?

a significant factor in algae growth is often phosphates

what kind of water do you use

clean up crew?

algae is pretty normal really, i scrape my glass every couple weeks probabyl to keep it nice and clean

My new algae seems to be red hair algae...wherever the green dark spots were...there is. My tank isn't a mess but will be soon if i don't find some serious algae eaters.
My waters parameters are supposed to be ok.

Oh and yeah : welcome to darlinee220

Oops. Just tested...nitrates are undetectables, phos are .25 calcium is above 400 but alk is waaaay too much.
I read wetwebmedia on high GH ...and i should stop using seachem ph 8.3 and rely only on water changes...for now. A lot of people had hair algae due to poor calcium and high hardness. My calcium is ok but can drop easily.

<Wetwebmedia is very cool. You can even write to Bob Fenner. Yay.

BTW... i had a huge sponge growing under a cave in my rock...i noticed it just now when i was doing the tests.
So slick.:p
