Ok I've researched a lot on this whole thing, but everything I read gives me different answers. So the question is, what should my sg be at exactly, i get answers ranging from 1.020-1.024.....its driving me nuts! I wanna pick a number and stick to it!

lol its common when its 1.021-1.024

it really depends on your eco system or how salty u want your water to be.

i forgot but i heard if you have fish in your tank its better to have a high SG like 1.024. if you have a lot of inverts its better to have a lower SG like 1.021.

it might be the other way around but w/e

it really doesnt matter. just be consistent.

Hmmm..... Another issue ive been having is that out of no where, there has been a lot of crap piling up on the sand. Looks brownish tiny particles, like stuff is falling off the rock, in doing all of the rocks have picked up a greenish color along with some coralline growth. What is that crap on the bottom and how can I get rid of it. I'll post some pics of it.

btw u dont want to smash your rock? XD

i'll show you wat happens if u do =D

It's probably die-off from the rocks. One of the reasons a lot of people prefer to cycle without the substrate. The cleanup crew might get rid of it, or you could stir it up and siphon it out during water changes. Or, use a turkey baster to remove it (the sand should be heavy enough not to get sucked up too much).

The green looks like green coraline. It will eventually be replaced by pink coraline.

Yea the test strips are for just a quick check. I have the master liquid kit on order. I do have a liquid ammonia kit that ive been checking with. The cycle seems to be over, but just letting it sit. I will try to siphon some out. Since the tank isnt that big, 6g... what should my clean up crew look like. I was thinking the following:

2 small blue leg hermits

1 nassarius snail

What would eat that die off stuff?

Thanks again. :)

get like 2-3 of thos snails they great XD

i got lucky and 2 of my snails were breeding theres this tiny white snail wondering around.

i just connect a airline tube to a vinyl tube so i can control where i siphon. i got my hands on thos 1/4" tubes so it doesnt get clogged. i have some hermit crab exoskeletons laying around...

lookin good! one thing, the heater is kinda distracting.
PS. ditch those test strips and get a liquid test kit. The strips are most of the time inaccurate.
Yea the heater is a problem, Im tryin to find a small one but all of em i see are pretty big. Anyone know of a really small heater that'll be adequate for actual 7-8g of water.

Oh and would a cleaner shrimp eat that crap at the bottom?
