I recently got a emerald crab and the thing is a eating machine. Hes eating all the green hair algae on my live rock (im still waiting for him to get cracking on the green hair in the sand, hopefully he finds it soon).

He has also been consistently eating my coraline algae, he loves the stuff.

yea mines a 20, and I think he may be eating a little bit too much, but nothing too bad.

They like meaty foods and will like mysis. I feed mysis to my fish so he may eat it. I feed my other cleaners so flakes to give them some food along with two or 3 marine pellets (not all daily), and everyone seems to be doing fine

yea cleaners like to jump on ya when you put your hand in the tank, little creepy but its all good lol. Ive never seen my hermits go after flakes, but thats probably becasue I dont wactch them eat.

Did you decide on a emerald crab?

Yeah because their pretty cool, no until i get coral which will be around christmas/december time. I also like the porcelain crabs but dont they need an anenome. The display tank at this new lfs where i got the cleaner for 15 has a beautiful clownfish(occelaris/percula, he thinks its a hybrid) hosting some type of coral that looks like an anenome(it can extend and retract its tentables). When i get my light im gonna ask him if he would sell me them both, although i dotn know if that owuld be good since i want a pair and if that coral is safe. Anyways im off to school, later

If it is an anenome I dbe carefull putting in the 20, they need alot of care and tend to need bigger and more stable tanks.

And may I add, your back in school early. August 15th..... DAMN

I know it sucks. He said it wasnt an anenome and show me another one and it had its tentables hidden/recessed. I doubt i can get the clownfish htough because its in a 120 gallon plus aquarium and all he gets out of their is corals.

Anyone know of a small colorful and active goby? I like the yellow watchman but hes kinda run of the mill. I want something more exciting, the pajama cardinal seems a little slow and boring and since im gonna get to clown fish they will be out hopefully and i would like something that would make a cool hiding spot and jet out for food or something. I found a bar goby that was really cool at my lfs. Are those bad or hard to take care of? I read they eat copepos, is that true?

Sorry for this qeustions but does anyone know this website http://www.marineandreef.com/shoppro/power_aqualight.html, it has the 96 watt pwrquad for 22 cheaper than foster and smith and has the sattelite 2x40 fixture for 93. I was wondering, does 16 watts make a diffrence. I want a lunar light to watch my corals at night and stuff but the tanks in my room, would it make a big diffrence, is it very bright(lunar light). If anyon can tell me about hte website and if their reliable and about wattage and the lunar light, that would be great. Thanks

I guess no one knows about those lights, the website or the gobies. I just saw a blue bristle worm but its bristles were more hair like. Is it bad? I went to go get my camera but he was gone. I named my cleaner shrimp pig because he eats so much. He ate like 10 flakes in under two minutes. Im not gonna feed them for a few days

Looks like the tank is comming along, but like you said if that top rock is not stable it will be ok for now but when you get fish in there it could be trouble.

As for switching the tank to RO water, just start doing top offs with RO water, and when you do water changes start doing it with RO water. Should be fine in no time.

Are you buying RO water from somewhere or do you have a unit? If you have a unit id say just use RO in the QT, but if not just use decholirinated in the QT. But that will differ the water in the Qt from that of the main tank.

Yeah, you think i will have to acclimate the fish from QT to display? I want to set up a nano in my den with a AC 70 fuge in a year or two with one clown or something and frags from my tank so I think when i get the money I might buy the Pure-Flo II RO unit 24 GPD for 119.99 from fosterandsmith.com for my birthday or something. I also want to convert my QT after im finished using for frag grow out. Besides Lights and a power head or two, what do you use for filtration. This are all wants and I dotn know if I will get them but im gonna start buying RO water from my LFS. Its .59 cents a gallon which is under 5 dollers for 8 gallons. Not that bad

Alright, seriously, this is my last post on this thread because no one cares, haha. But I have decided on my third fish. A yellow watchman goby w/ a pistol shrimp. Is the clicking or "pistol" noise the shrimp makes really that bad. If he makes it at night i should be ok because i sleep through anything but if he does it before i go to bed and all the lights are off in my room 1030-1100pm i wont be able to get to bed if is constant. My other options for a fish was some type of goby or a royal gramma. If i can find a more rare watchman the i will get one would be te Orange stripe prawn, Hi fin red banded(my favorite), YWG,Wheelers watchman goby. Has anyone had any experince with teh hi fin red banded goby pairing with a pistol shrimp?
