My main concentration was in bioanthropology, though IU (Indiana University) doesn't have a tracking program, per se. I was/am interested in pre-human hominids. However, I'm a total anthro nerd- Bio, Archaeology, Linguistic, Cultural- I love it all!
I started out (my freshman year) with an interest in nothing but archaeology, specifically in the American Southwest. I actually did my field school at an Anasazi site in New Mexico. Anyway, I had one prof that TOTALLY ruined arch for me- he was an awful teacher, I've known a few others that he did the same for. On the other hand, I had the most amazing prof EVER in Bioanth... he was just fantastic. Kevin Hunt, if for some reason you're ever reading something relating to bio-anth (specifially primatology) or are every dealing with people at IU!
Bioanth became my obsessive passion for the next 4 years! I'm actually glad I didn't graduate on time b/c in my fifth year I came back to appreciating the other subfields (except linguistic, we didn't have much of a program in that) more, even the previously snubbed cultural ;-). Sorry, we had a bit of a rivalry going on between the subfields, and we were kind of clique-y about it for awhile. So stupid! I can't believe it, but I think I might actually go for cultural in grad school. I'm developing a serious interest in Middle East studies.
As for what I plan to do with it... hmmm, well... that's still in the works!
Phew, that's probably way more info than anyone wanted! Seriously, I need to CALM DOWN! I'm on a 2:30 am caffeine high and the gibberish just flows forth from me, unchecked! That includes unspellchecked. Ugh.
Anyway, what are you and your fiance's interests w/in your respective fields?
