So it's like a reverse UGF? Huh... Sounds interesting... The idea is kinna like blowing the stuff up that stays in the gravel and getting it sucked up by the hob?

I dunno. I'm really excited. I can't wait for Tal to start writing about it :]

I look forward to trying the system.

The log will be thorough and the vieww will be a bit different as I am newer to fish keeping and may be representative of a population that may have previously been scared away from fishkeeping due to the regular water changes that some people want to avoid.

This is a win win.

I have to say, if this thing turns out to work, I would seriously think about getting one. If I end up going to a college away from home next year (which is very likely), I won't be coming home every week-end to do water changes and nobody wants to take care of my tank for that long. The cost of this system is soon going to cancel out the gas costs for driving home and back!

Good point kb and it builds on my point which is many people who may be interested or want fish may not have the time for those weekly water changes.

This could be to be an item that could be marketed to fish owners and a tool by which many new fish owners could be brought into the hobby.

TAL...you do know if this doesnt work you may end up killing some fish during this test..make sure you are willing to do it..IMO to give it a through review you can not do a water change until you are positive it isnt working which may be after a few deaths.

Systems are shipping. I will let the other person reveal themselves to you.

hehehe I know something you dont knowwww hehehe

I have some reporting parameters from the company and will detail it when I officially start my thread on the system. I look forward to us all learning about this system together. Even if I am crazy as loon.

So could I recommend to the people testing this system that they should set up at least one other control tank, 2 would be better. Have one with this system, one with a normal RUGF and no water changes, one set up more conventionally with regular, reasonable water changes. Then also have the exact same stocking in each. Heck, if you want to see the real power of water changes set up one with nothing but a few air stones for water movement and do DAILY 80%+ exchanges. Could even keep it sterile and teardown the tank biweekly. (I got money on that one doing the best if someone wants to try and take it ;) )

A few questions for the company.

1) How is this a new system? All of the components are existing technology. I see no difference between this and running a wet/dry, RUGF and a power filter. Heck! the above tank power filter has been used in Asia for decades. As has the RUGF. All of these systems require water changes and regular maintenance to function properly.

2) How does your system handle Phosphates, DOC's, Hormones and other disolved wastes?

3) What are the type of bacteria used in your supplement? Based on what I can gather about the recommended maintenance on your site I assume they are Heterotrophes? If so... Why take that risk?

I await your responses :). Also I think it would be fair for everyone if the conditions and guidline parameters were posted. All things considered I would LOVE to test out this system in an impartial manner but I don't think it would be good for buisness if you kept handing them out. If you are interested in me testing and posting my results as well please PM me a buisness e-mail I can contact you at so we can determine if there are any distributers (or even retailers) in my area with this system.

Thanks,
Chris

PS. Forgot to ask, would you be so kind as to post the MSDS sheets for Bio Magic, Vita Magic and Clean Magic for any interested parties?

HiQ-USA,

So I see you checked out my profile... No dice on answers though eh? ;) Meh, all good... That said though I think I will be requesting the MSDS information through your site so it doesn't matter. You can post it here for transparency to the public or not. You do have MSDS info I assume? I'm pretty sure a company is required by law to provide it when asked... I could be wrong but I couldn't find them posted on your site.

Have a GREAT day!

Chris

Wow, if you take out the whole zero water change thing as I'm sure most fish keepers will do. This thing is pretty impressive. If I'm not mistaken this would be the first filter system to complete the nitrogen cycle! I can't wait to see this!

From my experience companies are not required to give out MSDS info. I believe that they are only required to give them out if the product contains hazardous material.

You all have been so patient :D

I received notice that my 0 water change system was delivered this morning :)

I'll work on getting it set up over the next couple of days. I was planning on putting it on my currently empty 46 gallon bowfront tank downstairs... HiQ has requested specific tests and I'll be creating a thread to follow all of the updates for my tank...I believe it might be best located on the sponsor forum? Or does everyone think it would better belong here in the equipment forum?
