Just a word of advice. Take out the air stone because it will lower the PH and cause some problems when you get fish. Maybe you could get a skimmer for your tank it aerates your tank and doesnt lower PH (at least I dont think so).

thanks for that tip i was wondering y my testing thing says 7.4 pH...while my strip says 8.4 =/

anyone know wat i should do now? the water conditions havent changed....

Nitrate and nitrite is still at 0
and ppm total hardness is at 425
alkalinity/buffering is at 300+
ph is at 8.4

thanks i'll try to get that at petsmart (cuz thats place is really close to where i live)

my SG is at 1.023 it was moving up and down cuz of my powerhead -_- thats a no brainer

I rearranged the live rock and looks somewat better cuz i discovered theres a cave on the big live rock.

when can i get fish? nitrite/nitrate/ammonia is at 0 or undetectable
its been like that for about a week now.

Remember to take the online print should save you a few bucks. Get the clean-up crew first. Have all the levels been good? If they have been stable then you can get it now or wait an extra week.

Looks good so far. :D Make sure that rock is stable, as fish can knock it over (on top of themselves) if it's not.

The first thing most people add is a cleanup crew (snails and maybe hermit crabs). Your ammonia and nitrite should be at zero, and your nitrates should be low (less than 20ppm) before you add any livestock. If the ammonia and nitrites have been at zero for a week or so, it should be safe to add the snails.

Are you planning on adding a substrate? If so, you should do that before you add any livestock.

my tank is fine right now nitrate ammonia is at 0 for weeks but the thing is...it never spiked nor moved from 0. the guy who told it to me said its semi-cured but seems fully cured.

i want to add my clean up crew but i still need the sand. its still being shipped. is it safe to add sand while snails are in there? cuz the sand might cloud the tank everything for days.

*major update* (pics coming in about 10 hours...)
camera is broken...

just got my extra powerheads (295, 230)

their both maxi-jet and im switching my 300 for the 230 since it is stable...
the 300 only has one suckstion cap while 230 has 3.

anyways i also added my live sand 20 lbs of it. that gave my tank about 1.5 inches. its really cloudy but this morning it improved.

btw u dont need to rinse the live sand right?

also got that LED lamp really bright.

do not rinse the sand.

there is a cool way to attach the ph......get a cheapo mag cleaner....superglue the in tank side to the ph thing that has the suction cups on it.....and the magnet will hold the ph where you want it and you won't have to bother with the suction cups........ works like a charm

cleaner mag's can hold 300 gph?

well right now i have 2 choices. i can use the extra PH to for my water changes or give it to my cusin since they have a 55g tank freshwater thats a little polluted. so extra flow can help him out.

i have a air pump which i can use instead of my powerhead but heard that the air pumps lower the pH.

yeah i got a couple from my mom. she got it from my cusins mom who when to hawaii.

anyways i'll be unloading the pics once my camera is fixed the lens is jammed.

right now its really coudy like anyother tank with sand. the down side now is that my SG dropped from 1.023 to 1.018...and my temp. from 80.7 to 72.6 (gotta love thos digi therm.)

i kinda made it worst when i turned on my powerheads...it just kicked everything up...

u can turn off all the flow right even with live rock in it?

yeah since i thought it was a different issue.

and i didnt think the powerheads should be on...that was my bad.

its really starting to clear up now. just took a pic of it this morning.

turned my temp. too high.. it was at 84.0 should be 79-80 when i come back.

so i should add more salt?? and do a 20% water change?

You dont need to do a water change right now unless any level is high. Try to get the specific gravity to 1.20-1.24 or 28-32 ppt salinity. Don't know what device you use to measure your water. If you use a Hydrometer, my advice would be to get a Refractometer or a Digi-Lab. I have both and they are very accurate and fun to use. One more favor, please put some pictures I cant wait to see how the tank looks:rolleyes: Best of Luck*thumbsups

yeah going to put up as many pics as i can from different angles. and again broken camera. (well not really broken just jammed.)

yeah im using a hydrometer. going to my LFS and c if they have a cheap refractometer.

i got a $20 thermometer might as well get the overpriced digi SG meter :p

Air bubblers, either inside or outside a powerhead do NOT lower pH, they raise it by helping drive off CO2. The only way they can possibly lower it is if you have killer aircon and never open the windows and have so much CO2 in your room air I guess, tho' that is very unlikely.
If you have a measured a flat surface with a spirit level to rest it on, the swing arms hydrometers have been tested to be consistently ok accurate. Refractometers are easier to use repeatedly, but hobbyist refracto's aren't as accurate as people like to believe blindly.
