i sit in front of my tanks for to much to often.

im still seeing things i dint see before in my mantis shrimp tank. there are seval worms that come out of the rock and grab any mysis that pass by, a poppulation explotion of tubeworms, and for the first time last week i added some cyclops form the tengallon the the mantis tank, the copopods in the mantis tank would chase them down and eat them.

once you get corals and fish you will sit in front of the tank half the day. SW is the most amazing thing i have tried in this hpbby.

I have one of those Diamond Gobies and he is a real character he has literally moved all the sand from beneath my liverock in my 75g. The only question I would put forth is that they do get to be up to 6 inches long and in a 10g there may not be enough food to support them. Though mine eats like a pig at feeding time so I know he isn't totally dependant on what he gets sifting sand.

Ah, thanks Lorna. Since I don't plan on getting the fish for a while, I hadn't really done that much goby research yet. I definitely want to stick to something that stays very small. I'll check into that one you said ram man, thanks :)

On another note: My peppermint shrimp has passed away :( . Not really sure why. I tested the water and parameters where all 0. I was kind of surprised at Nitrate being 0, but I do have a good bit a hair algea on the back wall, so maybe that's using it up?

I am just going to let things in the tank go for a while longer - I don't plan on adding another shrimp at this time.

Good news! The emerald crab moulted. That was pretty cool. Now he's a super bright green color. (The emerald is small, but is it possible he killed the shrimp?)

I am feeding them small formula 1 veggie balls.

First Coral

Here is my first coral. I am starting small....lol

Edit: Also went shopping tonight and picked up the items to start my refugium. I'll be working on that tomorrow. And got a better heater because the one I had was crap and a digital thermometer.

Hey Limi, that looks like the exact same zoanthids I got for my first coral.

Almost look like Alice in Wonderland mushrooms, don't they?

In a couple months they'll have split and you'll have twice as many. They are fun to watch grow and spread.

Well...............since you ask :D

These, I guess, technically were my first coral, but I don't count them because they came already attached to a piece of live rock. That itty bitty one all by itself wasn't there before though, so it's new.

On this rock you can see coraline algea starting :D

Here's a close up tank shot. You can't tell in the picture very good, but that large flat piece of rock is coloring up with pinks and greens too.
You can see a bit of hair algea on the back wall, but that outbreak has been clearing up rather well and it's almost all gone. I have a TON of pods too:eek: and the other day I saw a FAT bristle worm coming half out of a piece of rock, but I haven't seen it since.

Beautiful tank! You're really inspiring me to start my own nano :D In fact, the nano tank I've been planning in my head has already gone from a 10 gallon to a 20 gallon :D

Refugium Update

Thanks for the compliments! :D.
Today I (sort of) completed my DIY refugium. I got it all set up with live rock rubble, now just need to get a light and some chaeto (sp?). Unfortunatly haven't been able to find any around here yet, but still have a couple stores to try.

I made it out of an AquaClear 70 HOB. I cut the bottom mesh part off of the filter media basket and siliconed it to the front overflow so the macroalgea can't come out:

Then I used one side of the filter basket as the baffle and left a little room so I could slide the heater in there. Here is the finished product (well, for now):

I had to prop up the bottom with some books so the weight of the HOB wouldn't be stressing the tank. From the pic it looks like there are 2 sections of live rock, but there aren't, it's just the angle of the water. You can replace the impellers on the AC70 model with impellers from a smaller model, but I didn't. I am just going to see how it works. So far the water flow seems perfect, not too strong, so I think it will be just fine.
I am probably going to get one of those clip on the side lights although the Coralife mini-light fits pretty perfectly over the top.

And finally........here are some more shots of my favorite green invert

Everything looks good Limi, although I'll admit...I don't have the necessary knowledge of saltwater setups to appreciate even half of what is in your tank, but I must say that I really like the pics of your crab! He/she is so green...I wish I could find a cray like that. ;)
