yea... wait. there is barely any nitrates. but your DSB will help with those.

Ok I will. As for the DSB. Its not that deep. its a little over 1". I thought that 2 to 3" of sand is what helps rather then only an inch.

Cool tank! Im not too up to date with salt but i like this new rock arrangement you have...
I cant wait to see it with some critters!

LOL, The rock arrangement is temp for the cycle. I did that so the Live rock has better water movement from all sides. Once the cycle finishes they will go back on the sand. Before I had the rocks on the sand and the part which was in the sand was turning black. Black means that micro organisms in the rock were dying due to lack of water movement in those particular areas. Will get some critters once the tank cycles.

As most off you know I got new lights and they are nice BUT since I added them most of the colors on the rocks are turning white. When I had the old lights on, all green was turning to purple or red but since I added the new lights all the green red and pruple is turning white.
It is called bleaching and it is due to such a drastick change in your lighting, basically you are sunburning the symbiotic zooxantheallae within the organism as you would your own skin if you were to go into a strong sun light for many hours without having slowly built up a tan to protect your skin.

And as stated above certain types of coralin algea preffer lower lighting and some preffer stronger lighting. But basically you need to introduce any and all coral, algea slowly to there new lighting conditions if it is stronger than they are used to. That even goes for when you change your old bulbs for new ones you should cut back the hours of light and slowly over then next week increase it back up to it's normal cycle.

you dont need to worry about nitrites, they will go down in time. i think you need to worry about nitrates after your cycle is done.

I know that the nitrites will go down in time. Its just taking too much time. Ammonia went down to 0.0ppm in 4 days. Well will just have to wait. AS for the nitrates I was thinking and somebody told me that after the cycle is over i should do a 50% water change and wait for 24 hours and then check if the PH is ok. If not adjust the PH and then I will be ready for the clean up crew. I will get back to the clean up crew later once the cycle finishes.

that sounds like a plan. are you going to put corals in there once its stable?

Its a plan but Nothing goes as planned! Well Once the tank is stable then I will definetly go for corals thats why got the lighting. Will wait for a month or less after adding the clean up crew then will add 2 clown fish and wait for 15 or more days and if everything goes ok no deaths or anything like that, then will go for soft corals only. I am sure I will encounter a few problems on the way but will see. What do you think?

Yep, adding the pair at once is ok. Only way to do it (if you are going for pair)really with the percs.
I don't get it. YahooFishKeeper is saying one at a time. I think it would be much better to get 2 percs at a time.

YahooFishKeeper:_i think you need to get one clown at a tim eunless you get a pair tat way you add to the bioload a little slower.
If I add one by one the older one might become aggresive to the new perc. I might be wrong though. What should I do? Should i add one by one or get a pair at once?

i think you need to get a pair or stick with 1.

Then I guess it has to be a pair. I still have so much time before I can even think of buying any fish. Can't wait for the damn tank to cycle. I check my water everyday and keep my fingures crossed but nothing. My day will come!:D

Thanks. My lighting is coralife and you have odessy I think. Well I am all new to this myself and have no idea what coral even my light will support. But I will only go for soft corals. So the perc's can host on them. My tank has not cycled yet and having a few probs here and there. Hopefully it should cycle soon. There are not traces of ammonia but have a lot of nitrite.
