Fish confusion

I just recently got a 2nd cichlid type fish from a friend for an early christmas present since he is moving. Well it looks like my convict but yellow, pink gills, bright yellow/white belly, and red fins. I think it may be a female convict but not sure. And I cant give it back since my friend is already on his way to New York! Thanks for the toloeration and replies in advance.

Also the stripes seem to be faded out as well, but the 4 spots down its body are bold!

Excuse me??? I know nothing about cichlids. Im trying to figure this out. It looks like my Convict but its yellow. I said I think it may be a female Convict!

I didnt get on my own. My friend gave it to me. He is moving and needed to get rid of all the fish he had.

I been trying to figure this out for a couple of hours. I found nothing so I thought somehere can help me.

what is it going in with because as u SHOULD (but probably not) know about cichlids is that they are aggressive and can get very large and should be kept in large tanks and it should be cichlid only tank!!!

Okay first of wich I know that most cichlids are aggressive(with exceptions of dwarfs). 2nd I realize that most need large tanks[Dwarfs dont, you may get away with convicts(breeding pair, well tempered) in a 10g]. 3rd not all cichlids need a cichlid only tank!

yes no duh dwarfs are an exception and besides dwarfs discus and angels most cichlids do need a cichlid tank and i dont know of many cichlids that dont need more than a 30g tank..besides dwarfs..

but yes lighter is right pics would be a big help so we can try to help you out with ur situation

Okay I known all that. I just dont know different Cichlid species and need hel with it. If I was able to post a pic I would, but at this moment in time I cant!

Completely un called for. He came here to get info and we should help him out. He is helping friends out by givng a fish a home. Calm down. It is better then having the friend flush the fish.

Well I just looked into my tank and it seems that my Convict is circleing the Yellow cichlid. I think it might be either a wierd colored Convict or a deformed Severum.

That sounds a bit similar to my cichlid. I think it is a convict. Its yellow with greyish brown stripes. It is larger than my other convict.

My friend would have probally Euthanized it. So I think it was better I take it!

I'm not into cichlids, but good luck identifying it! I want more pictures of both of the new additions!

James... have you checked the profiles on MFT? Try taking it into LFS if you get a chance perhaps they can identify it for you. Or do what i do... surf the stored weekly checking out all the fish.

Okay. I will try to get a pic ASAP. But for the time the store said it was a Convict but Im still not sure. I will check the profiles right now!
