I've had to take the jets off twice now to clean them, and that's how it keep getting unburied. It'll have to be okay for now, but I'm thinking of some solutions for it whenever I move after college. I'm thinking I can silicone something to the bottom or the tank that it can snap in. I'm not sure. I have like a year and a half to figure it out though, so its not a big deal right now.

I was having an issue where one side of my tank was being warmed by my heater and the other wasn't, even when the heater was in the middle of the tank. Because I have my filter off to one side half of my tank was a big dead spot. I guess the whole jet system is because I like to over complicate things, but it is helping with circulation and keeping the tank a uniform temperature.

A second heater would probably do just as good a job. :/

Paige, didn't you have 5 leopard danios? Did something happen to them?

So I played with my camera and managed to get some decent pics. Basically what I did was just kept them in one of the water change jars I was using, added a little gravel to help keep the cycle and bought a foam/sponge filter.

Little broken pencil leads with eyes....
(I just checked on a whim. Even my dirty water is 5PPM nitrates)

Did you try putting your heater under your filter intake? That way it warms the water before it goes into the filter, then when it's pushed back out, it disperses over the tank. I did that in my 55gal and all I have in there is one 200W heater. My tank stays at 82F (and my thermometer is on the opposite side of the tank from the heater, right above the gravel). This is also why I recommend canister filters for larger tanks. You have more water dispersal throughout the whole tank, so there aren't really that many "dead spots" like there are with HOBs.

I have two left (that I've seen). I'm going to be getting rid of them when I swap the 46gal and the 29gal, though, and going with just two schools of WCMMs along with my ryukin (regular and gold WCMMs).

@ Paige-I wanted to know so I could try to figure out how to help!
LOL! Sorry! My bad. :p *celebrate

Random announcement for today...I added two more palm trees to Amun's tank and changed out the gravel for PFS from Emmett's 6gal FBH (which is soon to be Loki's 6gal). Now I'm waiting for the debris to settle so I can add Amun back into the tank. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the little gravel vac back from my friend and I can vacuum the sand because it looks rather blah (plant debris and such). Next I have to drain the other 10gal where Loki is, put the black gravel from that tank into the 6gal FBH, plant/'scape it, add Loki and then work on the 10gal for Emmett (putting the natural gravel from Amun's tank mixed with whatever black gravel is leftover from putting it in the 6gal, then pirate a couple plants from other tanks to put into the 10gal until I can get some more plants in there on payday).

Funny, guys. :p

I can tell you right now that Emmett is royally ticked off that I moved him out of his 6gal and into a 1gal temporarily while I'm working on the tanks. I have Amun in one of my little hex tanks next to Jasper's tank on the back of the piano (it's in the sun, so it's warm) and then Emmett in a 1gal next to Amun. Amun is like "Oh look. Another betta. Yay." Emmett is like "I KEEL YOU!" (<--said in the Achmed the dead terrorist voice)
