Finally 20 Gallon Setup

Ohh man if you live in Chicago my LFS had a huge sale this week. Had just about every snail, crab, shrimp, in pairs of 6 for $1. Sweet! Have you ever heard of Rod's Reef Food? Many people have not, but that stuff is great! My fish and coral all go crazy for it. It's a blend of frozen food put together.

Edit: Get some more Nassarius snails to help shift your sand.

Yeah I wish we have sales like that here. The closest LFS we have here have prices very high so i basiclly go there. Tomorrow is the day I will get a few critters and will post pics once done. I have 3 Nassarius snails already and the sand is looking pretty good.


Can Any body identify this.. Pics below. It started growing out of one of the empty shells i got for the hermits.

Was the emety shell in water at your lfs? you got one too lol ever since i got mine it seems everyones been getting a skunk cleaner shrimp.

NO the empty shells were purchased on ebay and came dry and pre cleaned. so that is strange. The skunk shrimp is so cool!!!

Need some help with identification

In the 1st pic I just want to know, is that Aptasia?

Rest are just random pics of the tank.

Looks like it from the pictures, but then again I've seen some zoas that look like that too. Any better angle you can get of it?

same as Joey said it could be a type of zoa but i've also seen some Aptasias that look close to that.

Looks more along the line of a type of Button Polyp, I have a colony of similare ones in my tank.

Poke it and if it fully retracts into the rock then it is most likely an Aptasia if it only closes up at the head then it is most likely a button polyp.

UPDATE

Got a few more corals this time I ordered them online from PETCO.com

Ordered

1 small green brain
1 candy cane coral
1 Toadstool Leather Coral
1 feather duster (Got 2 though)

They have not opened fully. Only acclimated 2 hours back.

I actually think that it is a buton polyp as well...aiptasia usually looks more translucent than that...have you tried poking yet to see if it fully retracts?

No really I do think it looks better ... I been too busy breaking down my 150 reef that I have not paid much attention to my nano.
