Ditto, I use visitherm on all my tanks, save for my 3 gallon which has the piece of crap "jr." heater.

Do not use whisper heaters. I've done this and the black mesh paint peels off. It killed a clown loach. The company says the paint doesn't harm the fish or the system, but yeah right. Just not worth the risk.

I think Im gonna get my cleaner crew tommorow or saturday. I plan on 4-5 scarlet or blue legged hermits(whatever is less aggressive) and 7-8 snails(whatever my LFS has out of cerith, margarita, trochus or bumblebee) and put them in my tank. Is necessary to set my QT tank up for them? My brothers girlfriend is staying in my room and I dont want to set it up. If not I'll just wait till tuesday when my LFS opens again and she leaves sunday.
Thanks
She would like something to look at but if its really necessary then Ill wait. Patience is always good.

Is it ok to buy my cleaner crew when I dont have any algae except on my LR which is corraline? I dont want to buy them and they starve. My one large 1" snail i got from my lr has stayed alive for a week. I have sea slug things my hermits will surly eat but i just want to know if its ok to buy them.
thanks

I got three snails that have long spirling shells and one bumblee and two that burrow in the sand and the guy recommended since i have a med depth substrate. I now have 7 snails and many other tiny ones and a few sea slug things and two small starfish. Just wondering what is a good online retailer that has good pricing, good guarantee and stock. It depends on if I go with a false perc or black clownfish. The black are cheaper at my lfs but the false are cheaper at saltwaterfish.com and so is the cleaner shrimp, brittle star and royal gramma basselet.
thanks, any comments/advie welcomed

Yea I wouldnt feel comforatable buying fish online. I need to see what Im buying (when it comes to fish atleast). And for affordability I think youd have to make a purchase of all your fish at once so that you werent paying indavidual shipping on live stock. and introducing all of your fish at once could be a problem (Ive never ordered online but I think thats how shipping works)

that is pretty much how it works...its going to cost $30+ for shipping so you need to be getting enough that it is cheaper still. i have only ordered online once because my LFS simply couldn't get what i wanted...otherwise i always buy in store. as wayne said, it is nice to see what you are getting

Yeah, true. I might get the black percs(25$) at my lfs w/ a cleaner shrimp and wait 3-4 weeks and then order then get the royal gramma, brittle star and a porcelain crab maybe. Whats so bad about getting a sally light foot crab for a nano? Right now im comparing prices from liveaquaria.com and two lfs's to see.
Thanks

I just calculated and its the same exact price to buy two false percs and a cleaner shrimp from my lfs then from liveaquariua.com. its also cheaper to buy the two black percs and a cleaner shrimp from my lfs than liveaquaria.com so im pretty much sold on where im gonna get my fish. I just havnt decided what my third fish will be. Yesterday when i got my snails i saw some cool cardinal fish like the longspine and others. Any good for a twenty tall. The royal gramma is almost 50 at my lfs and thats a little pricey. I really like the green clown goby and the lawnmower blenny. I dont know much about them but was just wanting some advice
Thanks

These are pics of my single astrea snail, one of my three cerith snails and my new updated tank pictures. I dont plan on any more lr expect to cover the rest of the fitler and heater area and the live the upper area for open swimming space. List of inhabitants is now:
1 Astrea snail
3 cerith snails
1 bumbleebee
2 burrowing snails(small and fast and live in sand)
2 starfish
Many other small snails and seaslugs
The rocks are now alot sturdier and Im cofident they wont collaspe because most of them are in the 1 1/2" to 2" sand
Any comments welcomed as always Thanks

I went to my LFS to clean my dog and saw that they had peppermint shrimp and got one for 7.49, there whole stock is cheaper than the LFS i usually go to but just though why not. Their false percs are ten dollers cheaper and that would save me twenty dollers since i plan to buy two but their black and white percs are 3 dollers more expensive than the other lfs so im not sure what im gonna get

that live rock looks like it would topple very easily..

i usually leave all the critters alone in my tank. unless there's a mantis shrimp or a killer crab...

you're lucky that your black and white percs are only 3 dollars more. regular percs here are around 30 bucks and black and white percs are/were 60 bucks 2 years ago when i got mine. and of course one just had to jump...

your LFS cleans your dog? man...my LFS barely pays attention to me alone. haha
