Update on cory fry

You can get a big 2 gallon fish bowl for about $5 and then just fill it up half way.

Or yeah go pick up a tank and just add stuff to it as you go along.

I had a question though what did you use as the first home of the eggs/fry and what are the water conditions and needs for fry {not that I will need that info any time soon or ever}

Well, to start off, I started as a newbie and had no idea what I was doing. I put them in a one cup rectangular container until they hatched. They stayed in there for a couple days until I found the bigger bowl I have now. I just used water from the 20g and every other day or so, I take them all out and refill almost the whole thing with spring water. (I have to clean the bottom of the bowl because they make a gooey mess!)

As for the new bowl, they have some fish bowls at Micheal's but I was going for something flat. I don't want to use gravel just yet and so the bottom area would be only about 4 inches diameter. I got a five gallon hex when I had the swordtail fry. But since all are dead but one and I got a betta, I put gravel, a plant, and a rock thing in there. So it's useless. There is no way I'm getting another tank. If I did, I would want a larger one than 5g. But my mom would go nuts...so that's out of the question.

I just wanted a bowl with a large surface area on the bottom, given that the cories are bottom feeders and don't swim to the surface much. Thanks for the input though. Any other ideas?

They are doing fine. All four are still alive. I just bought the new bowl and they seem happy in it. They make the water pretty stinky though. I should probably have more pictures by Saturday so check back soon!!!!!

Like I said, they are pretty fast now and hard to capture on film. I can't tell the difference between the old ones and the young ones anymore, so if you see one, you've seen them all.

OHHHHHH! Kissy they're /so/ cute. Are they Peppered or spotted cories?

Well, the parents were labeled as peppered so I'm assuming that's what they are.

I can already see the beginings of the spotty pattern on them which is why I was asking! Thy look great.

Mine was less then an inch long when I got him. I thought he was only a couple months old but looking at your guys I'm starting to wonder if he was much older.

They're only about half an inch. They look bigger on there than they are.

Helena21 and I had a little talk yesterday and I've thought it over. I might end up selling the catfishies. I SAVED 32 MORE EGGS TODAY!!! Yes, they are spawning...again. I'll ask Petco if they want some or sell them to other people. Hopefully this works. I might even get another tank...maybe

I AM getting another tank!!!! A 6.6 gallon bookshelf, 23.75" long, not too tall, tank from Petco. Pick it up tomorrow I hope.

Here's their new tank (6.6g). Is that a good place? It's gonna have a background so the sun won't shine directly at it and I close the blinds in the afternoon anyway. If I fill it with water from my 20g, how long does it take before I can put them in there?

You still need to cycle it fully. Bringing water from your other tank won't help water contains waste not good bacteria. You could grab some gravel from your 20G and decorations from it that will help a lot. You'll still need to go through the cycling process to further establish them.
